Twisters 2024 - A Spotlight!!!

Now, in a moment, I'm going to talk about the 2024 sequel to Twister however I'm going back to the first Twister. It is one of the most memorable movies there is IMO. Like I said, both the score and the songs, that was such a factor about the movie there I mean it had Marc Mancina, Trevor Rabin, Sammy Hager & Van Halen❕ Here's this recent trailer WB did last year of the classic 1996 movie that started the special effect epics that is still continuing this day :)

Now, here's the new sequel to Twister that came out last year in 2024 that really had no hype. There was very little stuff of it at the show when We saw Alien Romulus. When the first one came out decades ago, it was so hyped and the marketing of it was unreal which really got My attention. Sadly, I cannot say that with this one😐

They were supposed to come out with Twister 2 in 98 but didn't then in 2000 and so much time went on...they wasted so much time with the stupid script issues and all that crappy jazz. By time they got in serious talks about it again, Helen Hunt lost her hotness and Bill Paxton lost his life 😟I just loved their chemistry together, their one of the very few couples I really like in movies :)

Now, you're not going to see a big spotlight of this like I did the first one because as neat as this one is, it doesn't star anybody noteworthy. The only person I really knew was the guy in Top Gun: Maverick whom is NO Bill Paxton which there will never be another man like him. His son, James Paxton has a brief cameo in it for the nostalgia if you know him that it but he's nothing like his father which is quite disappointing to be honest that he didn't/doesn't keep the legacy of his daddy going😦

Right away, the movie opens up with people of this generation which is such a far distance compared to the really cool people in the first movie, its such a turn off seeing these who have bupkis chemistry😖I already said about Bill Paxton but I really like Rabbit' character with his "Rabbit is good, Rabbit is wise"...now there's a good character I mean this movie really lacks that. It just goes to show you how much things have changed, and this Generation brings. Also, there wasn't any hot women either. For example, Jami Gertz looked mighty classy fine when women's looks were becoming wowing in 96, you cannot say that for this new film because this day & age is really pathetic how it has become😟

Also, this movie really has nothing to do with the 96 one and it even copies things that happen in the first film. If I didn't know this was a standalone sequel, I would really be thinking that this was yet another reboot/remake😠

Now, as I said. A huge factor for Me in the first one was the music. It had such a tremendous score as well as decent songs. I cannot say that for Twisters. The only main song I know was by Jelly Roll (why would you name yourself that is beyond Me) and it became somewhat memorable to Me because WWE was hyping it up for SummerSlam with all of those appearances with Jelly Roll. I'm like so this is what Country singers & Country music has come to now

He sings the WWE SummerSlam theme...what difference his group is from Alabama. This song also made it to new movie Twisters as they showed that later...the song is good but such a far cry from the 1996 movie by Marc Mancina, Trevor Rabin & Sammy Hagar and the rest of the fine soundtrack.

Jelly Roll get's in the ring and ONE HANDED CHOKESLAMS THEORY...LOOK AT THE THUMBNAIL...what the heck here :o

Why would anybody call themself Jelly Roll? Anybody that does must not care for themselves very much. Now here's the official music video, it really a stunning looking one, I'll give it that.

Now, I appreciated this however. For the first one, Marc Mancina and Trevor Rabin did the music whom is two of Hans Zimmer's associates of his Media Ventures. They continued this because they chose Benjamin Wallfisch whom is a newer associate but he's got a ton of credits under his belt including Blade Runner 2049, IT P1 & P2, Shazam, Hellboy (2019 remake), Mortal Kombat (2021 remake), The recent remakes of The Invisible Man & The Wolfman, Alien: Romulus and just this year...Predator: Killer of Killers so he's one of your top composers now. With that being said, while I liked his score, it's nothing like Mancina & Rabin's however and lacks that really cool atmosphere. Here's this Cue by Wallfisch :)

More cool stuff...

Night of the Twisters from 1996, The Family Channel's first movie!

OK, first, I here's The Family Channel from way back.

Well, in 98, they were becoming The Fox Family Channel. Here's the first ad that revealed it and it's so amzig how this was then when the "almighty" web wasn't a household thing yet like it is today😲

Here's one of the first of The Fox Family Channel Commercials :o

Now, I just spotlighted 1996's Twister and if you read that then you know how much I love that movie. Well, you know how they come out with different movies about the same thing competing against each other even though the budgets are far different from one another? There was another Tornado movie in 1996 called Night of the Twisters. When I first saw the previews on TV, I was like wow, I gotta record that :o

It was based on a Children's Audio Book that talked about the true accounts that happen in 1980.

I recall this like it was yesterday as I was recording this movie and that movie on VHS left and right that year in 1996 not to mention Wrestling of WWF Monday Night Eaw & WCW Monday Nitro and of course The X-Files, it was almost like a hobby and I miss these times :)

After this event ended, it wasn't as epic as Twister but it was still really fun.

Now, you just saw commercials & promos of The Family Channel and I showed how they became the Fox Family Channel. Well, in 1996, The Family Channel made their FIRST EVER movie and it was Night of the Twisters😳 There is very little content of it on YT but I was able to find this Fox Family Channel Promo from 1999❕

I was able to find the entire movie free on YT as well. It's pretty good quality and whenever you get the chance, check it out😃

Twister - 1996 Epic Natural Disaster Movie with My Memories:)

So, this was the biggest movie along with Independence Day/ID4/ID-4 of the year of change that was 1996 (Sting in WCW was a great example as when he was explaining as he said it himself) that was an absolute can't miss, and I anticipated this so much back then. I remember it like it was yesterday when I saw it twice. Me and My Mom & her old friend Don from Sears where they worked at in Crestwood Plaza went to see it then Me & My Grandparents saw it too at The Kenrick Wehrenberg Theater in Crestwood on Watson Road. If you knew this area then and if you saw this area now you would been on your knees in tears because it's all gone, the The Kenrick has been replaced by a Walmart & Bio Life, the whole plaza next to it is gone too. There was a cool Humphrey Bogart restaurant there that had nothing but pictures of him on the walls and great food. Me, My Mom and her tall boyfriend Kevin took My Grandparents there for their Wedding Anniversary in 1991 then We saw The Addams Family on a cold December night when things were still very special :) If you love Bogey then you would have had a ball there as it was the only one like it and now it's all gone! Even the building were Frank's Nursery & Crafts & Burger King were. Now the entire area is like it's never existed before :( This is what I'm talking about people, you gotta preserve and think about your history and spread it around. before it all falls to Oblivion...I'm not joking here, I think of this everyday😠

Here's a pic of what that great fun The Kenrick Wehrenberg Theatre looked like back then and keep in mind My Dad worked there as a projectionist and gave Me an awesome Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Poster plus this is where I saw Willow in 1988 over 35 years ago this year as well as Jurassic Park in 1993, 33 years ago this year not to mention many other great times including seeing 95's Batman Forever (30 years ago this year) and 97's Batman & Robin :)

So, Twister was a huge movie for Me and really for My Grandparents because We love Weather looking up at the sky looking at the clouds and all of that. My Grandma knew all the types of clouds and all of that stuff. I know weather but they were much wiser than I am even now. When I saw this movie I was so euphoric about that as this was presented in THX & SDDS Surround Sound which I was crazy about these features. I loved Bill Paxton, he was always one of the guys We always talked about as he was such a household name. My Grandpa always said his quotes from 1986's Aliens. It was something seeing Helen Hunt. As a 15-year-old, I really digged her. I loved Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Dusty character, he's one of My most favorite movie characters. Jake Busey & Carey Elwes was in this as well! My Grandma really like the Aunt character :)

In fact, the Dusty Character is truly one of My favs ever in a film, he's just so cool! This one of the things that so lacks in today's movies as well as society:0

I noticed so much changing in 1996, one of them was the women. The way they looked & dressed, boobs were bigger, their hair was better and all of that...the women in the 90s were arguably the best out of any decade, it was one heck of a time being a teenage boy😎 Look at Helen Hunt here for example :o

Jaime Gertz isn't the innocent lost girl in 87's The Lost Boys anymore💣

The chemistry between Paxton & Hunt was really good.

This being 1996, this was the start of nearly every film being dominated by CGI and feeling like a big event unlike any previous years including 1982, 1983, 1984, 1989 & 1990 :o This film really changed My outlook on so much, just not movies but how I see Weather. I have never stopped loving weather, every day I love it and when there's rain & storms, I never want it to be bad but I want it really exciting. IMO this is one of the greatest movies I ever seen. My Grandpa bought the VHS for Me when he worked at Sears in Crestwood and then when it came out on DVD I got it too:) Here is some of the awesome posters & more!

Here's the Trailers⛈

I would have loved to be a storm chaser. In this awesome & scene, listen to the score here by Marc Mancina & Trevor Rabin, they NEVER released this music on CD, not even on the expanded edition however it is still possible that they might. Listen how they mix it up with Sammy Hagar & Van Halen... My Grandma loved this :)

Now as you just heard, it has one heck of a soundtrack, in fact it has one of the best DUAL soundtracks you could ever listen too. It has a ton of great songs by some of the greats including Eric Clapton. Here's Sammy Hagar's Humans Being that was just for the movie!

Now the score as I mentioned a minute ago is by Marc Mancina. He has a remarkable feat as he was Hans Zimmer's first trending Media Venture protege/colleague/associate/student to use Zimmer's sound. This is really a historical feat because this is the type of sound that has dominated Hollywood's movie scores for decades now and even as I currently speak :) Also, Trevor Rabin is playing the guitar which he is a Zimmer guy too which he is a great composer in his own right:)

Now as much as My Grandma loved the score & them composers, she absolutely adored Eddie Van Halen's Respect the Wind even more :o I love it too, it's such a magical piece in-itself that totally matches the film. It was in the End Credits where they show the sky and the clouds in a time-lapse. I've always said about that We always watched the end credits for the great music that is in the movies while everybody else walked off. In fact, there has never, I mean never been an end credit piece of music like this ever, I mean ever! This piece was written DIRECTLY FOR TWISTER and you talk about originality, now this is it😎Listen to this masterpiece by Van Halen❕

Here's My small Twister Collection, which is My VHS Tape, DVD & Movie Score!

I have a very special story about Me & My Grandma MiMi, the time when the power went out during a huge thunderstorm. During that storm when We were going to & leaving Schnucks on Loughbough in 2004. We were listening to Twister in her Garfield Express Hyundai. We listened to that score so much during the Spring & Summer months for so many years :) One day soon, I will elaborate on this further because it was such an incredible story of Mine and I never had an experience like it since :) That will do it about 1996's Twister, I have always loved that one and always will. I have more Twister stuff to come so be alert for that❗
